Radiothon – how many ways can we say thank you to such a caring and yes, loving community. We always try to find those ‘special’ stories that warm your heart and describe how important ‘the little hospital that does’ is to everyone.
This year we made a special effort to remember a real character, a woman who loved our hospital fiercely and demonstrated that with her tireless energy and dedication. Olga Davis was a lifetime member of both the local Hospital Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary of Ontario. She served on the Board of Governors for the hospital and gave many hours as a volunteer to other organizations in the community. Many of you will remember her introduction of Peter Mansbridge at our Gala, a moment that moved him so much that he took the time to send a personal letter to the family when Olga passed away earlier this year. She left a mark on our community and the was borne out when we saw over $20,000 in donations come in to the Radiothon this year, much of it in honour of Olga. It was our privilege to have her granddaughter and her family members join us on October 19thto share some stories and to accept our thanks for allowing us to offer this tribute.
